If you intend to offer the prayer of Maghrib and ‘Ishaa il-Aakherat in the mosque then you should follow the steps given below:

Dressed in the clean clothes for Namaaz, while entering the mosque you should say the du'a of Bismillaahe wa billaahe and send salaam to all who are present. While unfolding the masalla you should recite the du'a of Waqolil hamdo. If you happen to arrive early in the mosque then facing the qibla you should recite the Qur'an or do the Tasbeeh.

  • You should not offer the two rak'ats of Tahayyat ul-Masjid as there is no prostration between the prayer of ‘asr and maghrib.
  • At the time of Maghrib you should say the azaan then recite the du'a of Allaahumma ‘alayha. Immediately after this you should say the iqaamat followed by the du'a of Allaahumma aqimha.
  • You should take the niyyat of three rak'ats of the farz of maghrib. You should recite the surah in the descending order. After completing the farz you should recite the du'a of Allaaho akbaro (all the names starting from Allah till Imaam Taiyeb (AS)) and Allaahummaghfirli in the sitting posture. Then perform the prostration (sajdah) and recite the du'a of Sajada wajhee. Then recite the Tasbeeh-e-Maulaatana Fatema (AS).
  • After this you should offer the six rak'ats of the sunnat of maghrib. You should recite the surah in the ascending order till Surat ul-Kaaferoon.
  • After the sunnat you should perform the prostration. Then you should take the niyyat of four rak'ats of Tatawwo' prayer. You should recite the surah in the ascending order till Surat ul-Lahab. The niyyat is as follows:

“Usalli salaat at- tatawwo'e arba'a raka'atil lillaahe azza wajalla adaa'an mustaqbelal ka'batil haraame Allaaho Akbar.”

“I am offering four rak'ats of Tatawwo' for the sake of Allah the Almighty, the Powerful, in the time facing the Holy Ka'bah, Allah is the greatest.”

  • After the prayer of Tatawwo' you should perform the prostration. Then you should say the azaan.
  • You should offer the four rak'ats of the sunnat of ‘ishaa il-aakherat. You should recite the surah in the ascending order till Surat ul-Lahab.
  • After completing the sunnat you should perform the prostration and say the iqaamat. Then offer the four rak'ats of the farz of ‘ishaa il-aakherat.
  • You should then offer the four rak'ats of naafelat of ‘ishaa il-aakherat. Recite the surah in the ascending order till Surat ul-Lahab. Complete the prayer by performing the prostration after naafelat. It is meritorious to recite the Tasbeeh-e-Maulatana Fatema (AS) and to kiss the masalla thrice and say the du'a of Bismillaahil Lazee at the end. Then you should recite the du'a of Allaahumaghfirlee wa lewaaledaiya while stepping down from the masalla. If you are the mosque then it is mandatory on you to offer the salaam to the Imaam.

It is highly commendable and praiseworthy to offer the prayer of Tasbeeh ul- Aazam after the naafelat. The topic has been dealt with in detail elsewhere. You can offer any prayer of naafelat or qazaa after ‘ishaa il-aakherat.
